AYURVEDIC PRINCIPLES
Our all-encompassing and meticulous approach to formulation is deeply rooted in Ayurveda – a practice that has been the foundation of plant-based healing for over 5000 years. Directly translating to “The Science of Life” in Sanskrit, Ayurveda is an ancestral holistic health system. It teaches prevention and encourages the maintenance of health by creating inner balance through lifestyle practices, diet, herbal remedies, and oils.
Within the philosophy of Ayurveda are the underlying principles of the doshas – Kapha, Vata, and Pitta. The doshas are biological energies found throughout the human body and mind. They govern all physical and mental processes and provide every living being with an individual blueprint for health and fulfillment – derived from the Five Elements and their related properties. Intrinsically, we are born with a unique balance of all three doshas in varying degrees, with our bodies functioning most optimally when they are in equilibrium.
We have used these principles to shape our brand and products. By utilizing pure plant oils and extracts to create our formulas, we mindfully select an array of traditional and scientifically proven ingredients which work in unison to support the skin and body effectively.
KAPHA
The Kapha dosha embodies the dense, heavy and unctuous qualities of earth and water. Kapha endows stability, strength, moisture, and lubrication in the body. A predominantly Kapha dosha person may experience oiliness, cysts, larger pores, blackheads, lethargy, and water retention when this dosha accumulates.
VATA
The Vata dosha expresses the dry, cold, light, and mobile qualities of air and space. The most powerful of the doshas, Vata controls all basic functions of the body, including the breath and mind. Vata skin is typically dry, uneven toned, and prone to fine lines and wrinkles. A predominantly Vata dosha person may experience persistent dehydration, premature aging, and thinning of the skin, with a tendency towards anxiety and restlessness when this dosha is vitiated.
PITTA
The Pitta dosha imbibes the hot, sharp, and sensitive qualities of fire and water. Pitta controls the digestive and metabolic processes in the body, including the complexion. A predominantly Pitta dosha person may experience heat sensitivity, rosacea, acne, and oily-combination skin, with a tendency towards inflammation and irritability when this dosha is aggravated.
